Hack your old MIDI pad controllers into a Monome (kind of)
Переглядів 5 тис.6 років тому
In this video a walk you through a quick Max/MSP hack where I am trying to emulate some of the Monome's functionality. It's quick, its dirty, but it lays the ground work for a lot of fun and a lot of possibilities. Thanks to everyone at the llllllll.co forum for inspiring this project. llllllll.co Here is a link to the Max Project: www.dropbox.com/s/j7lmnapuca159oa/Launchpad_Monome.zip?dl=0 Int...
Fifteen Minute Patch Challenge - 2017.12.05
Переглядів 1,1 тис.6 років тому
Inspired by Instagramer @redstripdown, I decided to try their "Fifteen Minute Patch Challenge." Where, as the name suggest, you give yourself fifteen minutes to create a patch from scratch. I had a lot of fun with this one, and although, I feel like the patch never didn't reach full maturity in these fifteen minutes, I learned a lot about how I patch and really enjoyed the challenge. I'll defin...

ah, that must be how the startup theme for the Japanese Sega Saturn was done!
Does this work with ProTools Intro too?
Intro doesn't allow video so nope
This is great, thank you!
amazing, how did you make this?
Is Max For Live the same as Max from Cycling 74?
The download link in the description doesn't work but I found it on his gumroad: danielrdehaan(dot)gumroad(dot)com
Magnificent demo! 😎
Damn this is cool. Makes all them modular pieces seem reeeeeeal dang pointless, tactile tho they may be.
I was able to follow along with everything except was not able to get polyphony working. I also added some things like a waveform selector and low pass filter which worked before for me but maybe I integrated incorrectly, I think I'm going to try and follow along exactly, see if that works, then try and add more features
Ahhhh found my mistake, after following along I then went back and added a square, saw, and triangle waveforms then routed that into a selector~ 4 with some radio buttons to pick the waveform of the carrier and modulator then added a LPF using lores~ at the end. Great video I watched it like 3 times and learned a ton!
great tutorial, but the background music is super distracting
Lovely work on this Daniel !
Or blue moon synth
Is it possible to create a template to sound similar to a moog synth
I still don't know how to do live cv
Hi Daniel, I've just found this video and see it's 6 years old. This routing matrix looks a lot like Reaper's matrix, but now in Live 11 I don't see this being implemented. Is this type of routing available in Live or M4L now? Thanks!
I was struggling to understand how poly object works, and you explained it perfectly here! What an awesome tutorial. Thank you!
Hi. Can you include mxe version for windows, please?
Finally have a voltage block on the way, after years of considering it. This video is great. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Daniel!
If Joe Pera did modular tutorials. God I'd watch the shit outta that channel. Just Joe sat in his utility room sampling a storm outside and wandering through sample trigs on eurorack. "Daniel and Joe make a patch".
Hey Dan, how would you go about using this method with newer multi channel plugins like eventides blackhole immersive reverb etc.
Lovely! I just watched a couple UA-cam videos on this music, and did a patch today that is similar to yours. Nicely done! I am using Rubicon for the VCO, with a double saw wave on one track (with LFO to cutoff frequency on BP filter) and pulse wave on the second track (with LFO on PWM). Thank you for this patch! Then I will try a simplified version of In C. I will have to figure out the sequencing.
Very helpful video, thankyou
Do u know how to make sampler/simpler retrigger portamento/glide without overlapping notes?
any chance you could send the script for this? :)
This is awesome
I am stuck at 11:18. when I connect from cycle to live.gain i get nothing. Everything else is worjing properly. Am I missing something? I am getting midi data and everything else...
I got it resolved. Thank you for an awesome tutorial. I have been putting max off for some time and this was the perfect tutorial to pull me in and motivate me to work within it. Thank you.
Thanks man, amazing tutorial video. One question? What is the firmware version of this Voltage Block? previous to V1.5? Thanks
Thx, explained very good
finally a video for the variate that you can actually understand and use it thank you man!
This is really good, am thinking it is just what I need to get me very well into this project I have in mind. I have an old launchpad mini, think it is the first mini just called launchpad mini. I want to exploit it and utilize it as a midi controller but more about a variety of setups for song writing and music projects than actually playing something with it. If it can be used as an on the spot patchbay and such like. After seeing what you are doing this seems very simple even without that script you have been using. Thank you for this really appreciate it and how you showed how simple it actually is bravo well done.
Controlling an entire 16 steps with one single slider feels so weird and clunky. Like i can sequence melody way more intuitively on a varigate and thats basically a trigger sequencer. It gives 16 faders for 16 steps rather than 1. Am i missing smth?
Sorry, your devices don't work for me. I opened it but it turns out that it is inactive.
Does anybody still have these max for live devices?
you can download them here: danielrdehaan.gumroad.com/
This demo sells product because it's all visual, progressively demonstrated and limits talking. Manther is really cool but it won't allow an external midi keyboard due to no CC messaging?
wow dope 🔥🪐
wow the track volume control is a cool id.e.a. too...
Thank's for the vidéo and the link ;-)
This video demo/manual is very useful. I just got a Malekko Manther last week and have been trying to understand some of the sequencer features. This video makes it all so much more clear. Thanks!
This is really really awesome, but I agree with everyone else, the background music needs to go 😂it really distracts from the sounds of the synth
great overview, thanks. A saved sequences includes voltages for all 8 channels?
34:37 <3
this is just what I needed to go back to programming sounds and music. I used Pure data, (which is almost identical to max msp) in university a few years ago but I eventually lost files and it stopped my work and the motivation went away every time I tried to go back to it. But this video helped me to relearn all the things I already knew. Once you understand how to use oscillators and apply modulations, there is so much possibilities. And then, every bit of knowledge you add on top of it, multiply the possibilities that were already huge with just a bit of knowledge.
wow sick tutorial thanx !
Can you see the notes you are setting using the VB on the Varigate 8+ ?
WHERE IS THE WARP FUNTION???????????????????????????
Love those videos, Operator is such a beast
Hi folks, nice video. I recommand also trying to chain operators instead of using all of oscillators on the same operator. I think it tends to have a more layered/Natural sound and it's easier to control automation on those different layers
